Speaker Atkins, Assembly Democrats Gather for Signing of Landmark Climate Change Legislation

(Los Angeles) –Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins (D-San Diego) and a several members of the Assembly Democratic Caucus gathered at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles to take part in a special signing ceremony for Senate Bill 350, the landmark climate change legislation. Under SB 350 California will need to generate half of its electricity from renewable sources and double energy efficiency in homes, offices and factories by 2030. Among those joining the Speaker and Governor Jerry Brown for the signing ceremony were the author of SB 350, Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León, and Assemblymembers Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park); Tony Thurmond (D-Richmond); Mark Stone (D-Monterey Bay); Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles); Cristina Garcia (D-Bell Gardens) and Kevin McCarty (D-Sacramento).  Here’s more in this Assembly Access video.    http://www.asmdc.org/speaker
